I love this piece of music. Thanks for sharing it.

Lisa, After the first minute my screen saver came up; it's set to a slide show of photos from the past year, so I got to listen while watching some favorite images come and go. What a treat. Thanks, my friend. K.

This music felt very sad to me. It made me think about how when we give thanks, we implicitly acknowledge that we have things that other people don't.

Restrained intensity. Beautiful.

(And I also liked the bit where it starts snowing on the piano...)!

Lisa, best wishes for Thanksgiving.

As a result of your last post I've cracked open and decided to start writing about my roots in a Northern trawler port. Rich vein of material but it don't quite fit with social environments I have inhabited since.

My thanks; that post was a real blast... and cathartic.

Hey! This is my most favorite George Winston piece! I can't believe you found it on Youtube - what am I saying! What can't we find on Youtube! I have wanted to buy his piano sheet music so I could play it also but he doesn't sell it. Boo. But at least I have all of his cds which will have to do for now.

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Debra, I love it too :)

Karen, I can't think of a more wonderful accompaniment.

Shauna, I suppose it is sad. I think for me the holidays bring a certain melancholy and a mourning for the Thanksgivings and Christmases that were imprinted when I was a kid. Those people and those places are all gone and although new memories followed and continue to be made, there is something about those early ones that I'll always miss.

Julie, I missed the snow! I didn't watch the video all the way through when I posted it. Thanks for pointing that out.

Olufunke, I had a lovely day and I hope you did too.

Kristi, I did and I hope Arizona was (is) a relaxing time for you. We'll miss you Monday.

Julie, I'll be interested in where your exploration of the past takes your writing. I've found that although I wanted to move away from it in life, it is still the richest wellspring of character and description that I have.

Maddy, so glad you enjoyed it.

Ello, you play piano too? I didn't think I could be more impressed with all that you are and now you've given me another wonderful surprise about you. Thanksgiving was great. Hope yours was too.

Literary Quote

It is worth mentioning, for future reference, that the creative power which bubbles so pleasantly in beginning a new book quiets down after a time, and one goes on more steadily. Doubts creep in. Then one becomes resigned. Determination not to give in, and the sense of an impending shape keep one at it more than anything.
